In Hawaii it was fun to hear him adding new place-specific words: coconut, waves, slippers, shave ice. Now he's back to talking about the "'no" that's been falling outside.
Bro may be the calmest child of the bunch, but he is definitely a boy's boy. He loves fire, dirt, sticks, weapons, electronics, and all things wheeled. He loves to throw, wrestle, fish, shoot and play with the iPad. He's never met a guy, young or old, he couldn't hang with. Recently we were at a friend's house and the boys were demonstrating their new air rifle. Baby Bro wanted badly to participate. To my horror, I heard him begging, "Gun. PEASE!"
But he is a soft-hearted little guy, giving out concerned hugs to unhappy siblings and playing dolls with his sister. He is pretty well-mannered, too, if a bit mixed up, since he uses "[you're] welcome" in situations that call for a "thank you."
And he's a joker. He'll say, "Mom!" and point off in the other direction so I, who by now know the drill, will turn my head away toward where he is pointing. Then he growls loudly--my cue to let out a frightened squeal. This sends him into a fit of giggles, which gives him hiccups.
Speaking of laughter, his antics definitely provide that for us all. Thank you, our darling Baby Bro, the boy with a name like a chuckle.

P.S. One of my favorite things Bro currently exclaims is, "Cool! Wow!"

He's such a sweetie!! ...and, btw, it was so wonderful to meet you guys in person while you were visiting here. You have such a delightful family, I wish you lived closer. Plus, you're totally awesome. As in VERY, very cool. Love to your family!!
Great to meet you all, too! Thanks for making time for us. Wish I could telescope the distance between here and there and we could have playdates often. . .
Oh how I wish our sons could meet! I can just hear mine begging also "Gun - PEASE!!" That "pease" is awfully hard to resist, isn't it! Love his joke, too. :o)
You know, JP, I had a dream just the other night that we did all get together. If it happened in real life, I'd probably be calling your children Sugar, Spice, Nice, and Snip-o since I can't remember their real names {BLUSH}. Oh wait. Now they're coming to me. . . I'm not giving up hope of a reunion happening outside my dreams. And yes, I am a major sucker for "pease."
:o) The funny thing is, I think my children would answer to those names! You're not going to be in on the 29th are you? I was going to come sola, but ....
